Sound Garden
KIKUNO and Studio Eva de Laat Explore the Materiality of Sound at ADE
Five handcrafted speaker sets bring Japanese sound engineering and Dutch textile design together in Sound Garden, an immersive installation at SALON188 during Amsterdam Dance Event.
What defines a well-designed sound object? For Japanese sound engineer Yuji Tsutsumida of KIKUNO and Dutch textile designer Eva de Laat of Studio Eva de Laat, the answer lies in the relationship between craftsmanship, material and experience.
During Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the two makers present Sound Garden at SALON188 in Amsterdam: an installation that invites visitors to explore the relationship between sound, design and space through five unique sets of handcrafted speakers.
These are the final days. On view until Monday 02 November.

The Installation
Sound Meets
Material
With Sound Garden, KIKUNO, Studio Eva de Laat and SALON188 create a meeting point between sound engineering, textile design and spatial experience, offering a fresh perspective on how we listen to and engage with the objects around us.
Five Unique
Sets
Combining carefully engineered sound with experimental textile
applications, the collaboration explores how material, form and sound influence one another. Rather than presenting speakers solely as audio equipment, the installation invites visitors to experience them as crafted objects in their own right, where technical precision and material expression come together.
Asia Hub
