About
Studio Eva works at the intersection of material intelligence, knitting technology, and how materials meet the body.
Founded by Eva de Laat, the studio focuses on seamless and circular knitting innovation. The work looks at how knit structures behave in use, on the body, within space, and over time. Rather than developing collections or fixed categories, the studio works with material systems. These systems are designed to adapt across applications and to change through wear.
The studio follows a research-led, hands-on way of working. Each project begins with material exploration and structural thinking. Ideas are shaped through experimentation, testing, and precision engineering. Collaboration with yarn developers, machine engineers, and manufacturing partners keeps the work technically grounded while allowing space for discovery.
Working between Europe and Asia, Studio Eva connects research-driven development with real-world implementation through ongoing material development projects.

What We Do
Material Systems for Health &
Well-Being
We design textiles as integrated material systems, not isolated fabrics.

By working from fibre to structure, we develop knit solutions that give material a stronger voice: allowing textiles to guide how a product performs, feels, and exists over time. These systems support comfort and support, while also shaping atmosphere, interaction, and longevity: across body, interior, and spatial contexts.
From Yarn to Textile Logic
Our work connects yarn behaviour, machine logic, and digital tools into coherent textile frameworks.

Through seamless knitting, stitch engineering, and custom workflows, we translate complex parameters into precise, repeatable, and scalable outcomes. Technology is used to bring clarity; to strengthen material quality, material narratives, and material strategies, never to add unnecessary complexity.
Somatic & Tactile Structures
We design knit structures that respond to the body.

Through pressure, texture, density, and movement, our textiles engage the senses: supporting comfort, perception, and physical well-being. These structures are not decorative, but experiential: felt through wear, use, and proximity.
Collaborative Research & Future Materials
Innovation is a shared process.

We collaborate with yarn suppliers, machine developers, designers, and researchers to explore future-ready materials; ranging from bio-based fibres and layered constructions to plastic-free textile systems and the evolving role of AI in textile development.
Beyond making textiles, we build shared knowledge through long-term partnerships, research, and open exchange.

Studio Eva — Textile Innovation Studio & Material Research
Studio Perspective
The studio works with brands, manufacturers, and innovation teams seeking deeper material understanding and long-term textile value. The focus lies in contexts where performance, well-being, and use over time matter more than surface solutions.
Work is approached through material systems rather than isolated products. Fibre behaviour, structure, and application are considered together, allowing textiles to develop technically, sensorially, and through use.
By working across the full textile process, from material research to application and lifespan, the studio supports the development of durable, human-centred knit systems designed to remain relevant over time.
